Draft. The final version will be posted before the App Store launch.
This policy explains what The Ogawa Group LLC ("Dayfive", "we") collects when you use the Dayfive app and website, how we use it, and your choices. The short version: we collect what we need to run Dayfive and keep members safe. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising, and you can delete your account in the app at any time.
What we collect
Account: your email address and password. Your password is stored by our sign-in provider in a scrambled form we cannot read.
Profile: first name, birthdate (others only see your age), gender, who you want to meet, city and neighborhood, photos, an optional video, prompts and answers, the date spots you like, what you are looking for, when you are usually free, and optional basics (job, school, height, star sign, kids, drinking, smoking).
Private settings: the age range you want to meet and your food or drink needs (such as vegetarian or alcohol-free). These are used for matching and spot suggestions and are never shown to other members.
Activity: likes and passes, matches, messages, date requests and bookings, cancellations, check-ins (that you checked in and when), strikes and badges.
After-date answers: whether your date looked like their photos, was respectful, was easy to talk to, and whether you want a second date. These stay private.
Reports and blocks you make, and reports made about you.
Verification selfie: if you choose to get verified, the selfie you take. It is deleted as soon as we have reviewed it. We keep only the result and the pose you were asked to copy.
Location: only when you tap "I'm here" at a date, your phone sends its location once so we can confirm you are at the spot. We do not store it, and we never track your location in the background.
Device: a push notification token so we can send you alerts. Date reminders are scheduled on your phone itself.
Waitlist: if you join the waitlist on our website, your first name, email, city, ZIP code, age, gender and who you would like to meet.
Messages you send us.
We do not collect your contacts, advertising IDs or payment card numbers.
Sensitive information
Your gender and who you want to meet may reveal your sexual orientation. Your birthdate and photos are also personal. We use this information only to run Dayfive as described here.
Selfies are compared with your profile photos by a person on our team. We do not use automatic face recognition or create face templates.
How we use it
To create your account and show your profile to people in your city.
To match you, put people with shared interests and free times first, and respect both people's age ranges.
To suggest date spots that fit both of you, and send reminders about your dates.
To keep Dayfive safe: reviewing profiles, selfies and reports, and running the show-up score, strikes and badges.
To understand how the pilot is going, using totals such as how many matches book a date.
To contact you about your account, including when Dayfive opens in your city.
To follow the law and protect the rights and safety of members and others.
Who can see what
Other members in your city can see your profile, your badges and how many of your dates you showed up to.
Your matches can also see your messages and the dates you book together.
Other members never see your email, exact birthdate, age-range setting, food or drink needs, strikes, after-date answers, or reports.
A small Dayfive team can see what they need to review profiles, selfies and reports and to help you.
Companies that help us
We use service providers who process information for us under contract:
Supabase, for our database, file storage and sign-in;
Expo, Apple and Google, to deliver push notifications;
Tally, for the website waitlist form; and
a payment processor such as Stripe or the App Store, if we start charging for anything.
When you tap "Reserve a table", OpenTable, Resy or the spot's own website opens and its own privacy policy applies.
We may share information if the law requires it, to respond to a valid legal request, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of our business. We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open.
When you delete your account, we immediately delete your sign-in, profile, photos, video, selfies, matches, messages (for both people), dates and after-date answers. Copies in our providers' backups are removed as those backups expire, usually within 30 days.
Reports you made about others are kept without your name so we can keep acting on them.
If your account was paused, had strikes or had open reports when you deleted it, we keep a one-way scrambled copy of your email address and those counts. We use it only to alert our team if the same email signs up again.
Your choices
Edit or remove profile details at any time in the app.
Turn notifications or location access on or off in your phone's settings.
Delete your account in the app: Profile, then Delete my account.
Email mark@joindayfive.com to ask for a copy of your information or to correct it. Depending on where you live, you may have other privacy rights, and we will honor them as the law requires.
Children
Dayfive is only for people 18 and over. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we delete it.
Security
We protect your information with encrypted connections, access controls and database rules that limit each member to their own data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and tell us if you think your account has been misused.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
